Maemo is an exciting new Linux-based operating system developed by Nokia that allows you to use your N900 in ways that you’ve never seen with a handset before.

The 600 MHz processor and 1 GB of application memory that has been packed into this technology means that you can enjoy full and quick internet surfing powered by Mozilla, run applications faster than ever before, send rich emails and get up to 48 GB memory, using Matchbox window manager and a GTX-based Hildon GUI and application model.

The Mozilla-based browser supports flash video, letting you watch, for instance, BBC iPlayer on the wide WVGA screen. With the Maemo OS switching between applications it will be quick and easy thanks to the fact that all running content stays available through the dashboard. You can personalise up to four different desktops, displayable on the desirable panorama screen, containing all your chosen applications, widgets and favourite shortcuts.

This is much more than just a handset, it is a powerful touchscreen computer with striking communication capabilities such as:

  • PC-Grade performance in handset-size with OMAP3430 500/600 MHz processor
  • Computer-like MULTITASKING through RAM: 256MB + 768MB virtual memory
  • 32 GB storage (extendable up to 48 GB)
  • Full Internet will always be with you – Wireless Broadband, WLAN and HSPA data 10/2.0 Mbps
  • No-compromise Internet thanks to Mozilla Flash 9.4
  • High quality WVGA TOUCH screen and full QWERTY keyboard
  • Three defined customisable homescreens
